About Us: Strategic plans for the FY 2008

 

Fund raising to enhance self sufficiency in funding. This will include Identifying funding partner to continue supporting the Homa Bay orphans livelihood project

  • Begin implementation of the 3 umbrella projects if approved by headquarters. These are; Eastern Kenya livestock integrated project, Coast SDDP phase II and Tuum pastoralist project
  • Expanding program activities to include new locations and new livestock species;
  1. New locations to be selected from the districts of Makueni in Eastern Kenya, North Rift area, Northern Kenya (Tuum) and Taveta in Coast
  2. Continue providing diversified livestock including poultry, beehives, Meat goats
  • Undertake evaluations for both FUFAO I and II projects
  • Strengthen Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation department and related systems to enhance quality of the field programs and impact
  • Strengthen gender department and streamline its activities to the field program
  • Continue enhancing staff capacities to improve quality of program activities and increase opportunities of realizing impact. Staff capacities will be enhanced through short courses, workshops and long term training for career development
  • Implementing market oriented livestock projects based on sub-sector and value chain analysis, including milk, beef and honey marketing enterprises
  • Support farmer marketing enterprises to help them become self governing institutions
  • Continue establishing and strengthening linkages to fill identified gaps

  1. Staff Development

Heifer Kenya staff will be skilled, competent, motivated and facilitated adequately to manage the ever growing Heifer Kenya program activities effectively and efficiently

2.Capacity Building For Project Participants

Project participants will be adequately skilled and managing the projects for self reliance

Enterprise Development

Through market access and linkages through value chain systems, project participants will be able to sell their surplus farm products, have incentives and are motivated to continue improving the quality of their lives 

Resources and Donor Support

Beneficiary and Dairy GoatHeifer Kenya program will attain self sufficiency in fund raising and will address the staff, partners and community needs adequately

Livestock And Technical Support

Heifer Kenya will enhance the capacity of the communities adequately to be able to manage the livestock and other resources for maximum productivity

Partnership And Collaboration

Heifer Kenya will have relevant and appropriate partners filling identified gaps for holistic service provision to communities
